WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26 IS THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER TO ATTEND THE WELLSBORO ROTARY CLUB LAUREL FESTIVAL BOOSTER DINNER BEING HELD ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 3 AT 7 P.M. AT THE PENN WELLS HOTEL IN WELLSBORO. THE BOOSTER DINNER IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

DRESSED IN AUTHENTIC AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR ERA ATTIRE, JOE AND DOLORES MCDEVITT OF BIRDSBORO, PA. WILL PRESENT "LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS: UNSUNG HEROES OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION" ON SATURDAY, APRIL 28 AT 7 P.M. IN THE COOLIDGE THEATRE AT THE DEANE CENTER, 104 MAIN STREET IN WELLSBORO. THIS IS THE FIRST SHOW IN THE DEANE CENTER’S 2017 HISTORY COMES ALIVE SERIES. TICKETS ARE $15 FOR THE 7 P.M. SHOW. CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER ACCOMPANIED BY A PAYING ADULT WILL BE ADMITTED FREE.

GARY TYSON, TIADAGHTON AUDUBON SOCIETY FIELD TRIP COORDINATOR, IS LEADING THE SATURDAY MORNING BIRD WALKS AT HILLS CREEK STATE PARK.  THE PARK IS LOCATED ON HILLS CREEK ROAD IN CHARLESTON TOWNSHIP, ABOUT 7 MILES NORTHEAST OF WELLSBORO, PA. ANYONE INTERESTED IN GOING ON APRIL 29, MAY 6, 13, 20 OR 27 IS ASKED TO MEET JUST PRIOR TO 8 A.M. AT THE PARK OFFICE AT AT 111 SPILLWAY ROAD, WELLSBORO, PA 16901. THE WALKS ARE FREE AND HIGHLIGHT THE MANY VARIETIES OF WATER AND WOODLAND BIRDS THAT LIVE IN OR MIGRATE THROUGH THE PARK. EACH WALK WILL START PROMPTLY AT 8 A.M. AND LAST ABOUT TWO HOURS AT A SLOW PACE OVER A LIMITED DISTANCE. REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED. THE NESSMUK ROD AND GUN CLUB, THREE MILES SOUTH OF WELLSBORO, IS A HOST SITE FOR PHASE II OF THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION'S BASICS OF PISTOL SHOOTING COURSE. THE TWO-PHASE COURSE IS FOR FIRST-TIME AND NOVICE PISTOL OWNERS WHO WANT TO LEARN HOW TO SAFELY SHOOT AND STORE A PISTOL AND FOR PROS THAT WANT TO BRUSH UP ON THEIR SKILLS. HAMILTON-GIBSON PRODUCTIONS IS HOSTING A BUS TRIP TO NEW YORK CITY ON SUNDAY, JUNE 11. RESERVATIONS ARE BEING TAKEN NOW ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS. THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER AND PAY IN FULL IS FRIDAY, MAY 5. THE BUS WILL LEAVE FROM THE BENEDICT’S BUS SERVICE TERMINAL IN WHITNEYVILLE, NOT FAR FROM WELLSBORO, AT 5 A.M. ON JUNE 11. OTHER PICKUP LOCATIONS WILL BE IN MANSFIELD, BLOSSBURG, LIBERTY AND WILLIAMSPORT, ALL IN PENNSYLVANIA. THE PRICE FOR THE TRIP TO NEW YORK AND BACK IS $85 PER PERSON.
